EUDR: what Connec3 takes care of for you

Connec3 B.V. aims to relieve you of as much of the burden as possible under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and provide clarity on what information you can expect from us and which obligations apply to you. Below, we explain how we implement the EUDR, which responsibilities we undertake and what this means for you as a customer.

The EUDR, Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, applies to our deliveries from 30 December 2026.

Connec3 fulfils two different roles under the EUDR, depending on the origin and position of the timber in the supply chain. Below, we explain what we arrange for you in both situations and where your own responsibilities lie.

Connec3 as a trader – timber purchased within the EU

When we purchase timber that has already been placed on the EU market by another operator, we act as a trader within the meaning of Article 2 of the EUDR.

In accordance with Article 5 of the EUDR, we retain the legally required details of our suppliers and business customers for at least five years. As a trader, we have no obligation to actively request DDS reference numbers. When we receive such a number directly from the first operator, we retain it in accordance with the legal requirements.

As a trader, we are not required to submit a new due diligence statement (Due Diligence Statement, DDS). Nor are we required to pass on previous DDS reference numbers, geolocation data or underlying due diligence documentation to our customers.

For you as a customer, this means that you are not required to request this information from us for these deliveries. Your other obligations under the EUDR naturally remain applicable. In this way, we aim to prevent you from having to make unnecessary requests for information or documentation that is not legally required for your position in the supply chain.

Connec3 as an operator – direct imports from Ukraine

When we import timber directly from Ukraine and place it on the EU market for the first time, we act as an operator within the meaning of Article 2 of the EUDR.

In this role, we carry out the required due diligence procedure and, in accordance with Article 4, submit a DDS through the European EUDR information system (TRACES) before placing the products on the EU market.

We undertake these obligations for our direct imports, so that you as a customer can rely on a carefully structured process and the accompanying documentation. We will state the DDS reference number assigned as part of this process on our invoice.

When you purchase directly from us as the first operator and act as a trader or downstream operator yourself, you must retain this reference number, together with the other legally required information, for at least five years, in accordance with Article 5 of the EUDR.

When you import timber or other EUDR products directly from outside the EU yourself and place them on the EU market for the first time, you fulfil the role of operator for those imports. In that case, you are responsible for the associated EUDR obligations, including the required due diligence procedure and the submission of a DDS before placing the products on the market.

Our preparation and cooperation

Connec3 is actively working towards the full implementation of the EUDR. In doing so, we pay particular attention to the traceability of our products, our suppliers’ documentation and the organisation of our internal procedures.

We will ensure that we are fully prepared for the EUDR by 30 December 2026 at the latest and comply with all obligations applicable to our activities.

Should information become available that gives reason to suspect that a supplied product does not comply with the EUDR, we will take the legally required measures and inform the parties concerned where this is mandatory.

We attach great importance to transparent and reliable cooperation. In doing so, we aim to relieve our customers of as much of the burden as possible by carefully fulfilling our own responsibilities, making the necessary information clearly available and preventing unnecessary administrative burdens.

This information serves to clarify our role and does not alter the legal responsibilities of Connec3 or our customers.
